It's official!

Dave and I are going to Chicago together the first week of June. It'll be my third visit and his first and I'm so excited to be there for longer than three days. We're staying with my sister in her apartment and we're saving moneys in order to live it up there for a week. Do you have any recommendations? I know I've asked in the past, but perhaps there are awesome things happening the week of May 31-June 7. I mostly want to hang out and do some tourist-y things, but not really be a tourist. I just want to take it all in and not try too hard.

We're going to try and see a Cubs game, but we'll see what actually happens with that. I want to go to Krispy Kreme, make Dave try White Castle, sandwiches at Jimmy John's, drink tea at Argo Tea and probably find a good local place that has a tasty deep dish pizza. There's also this great Chinese place close to my sister's apartment that is so delicious that we'll have to eat there too. We like to eat! There's much planning in the works. So very exciting, oh yes! Totally can't wait.

P.S. Anyone want to drive us to Sonic? That would be awesome!

P.P.S. I have a sad confession to make and that is I like fast food, but I don't like it all of the time, but there are times that I crave it. I certainly didn't eat it everyday growing up. But there are times when I want fries and nothing but fries will do. I have ventured into the world of making my own "fast food" at home and that's pretty great too. I do miss myself some Chik-Fil-A though, so thank god for MorningStar Farms chik'n nuggets!

haha I was just there! As you know, I only had a few hours to spend but I certainly recommend Millenium Park. Have fun!!

Oh, I also have 4 free VIP passes to one day of unlimited touring with the Chicago Trolley Co & the Chicago Double Decker Co. (Funny story behind those.) I'd be willing to send 2 to you & Dave, if you're particularly interested.

For the most part I don't do fast food anymore (though it was a hard habit to break because we have it ALL THE TIME in my family, but now I honestly don't miss it), but I do crave fries often. Mmmm, fries! Luckily they're something you can actually get at slightly less evil local places. :)

Millenium Park is totally on our list! I went there the first time I visited and it's just great.

If you really don't mind parting with them, that sounds like fun. We'd really appreciate it. I'm sure that would be a great way to see the entire city. We did a double decker bus tour in London and that was pretty amusing. Plus, history lessons!

I actually talk way more about fast food than I actually spend eating it. We do get pizza but normally from local places and not chains. I just don't feel guilty about having that breakfast sandwich at Dunkin' Donuts once a week (or once every few weeks).

Sorry I've been lazy about responding to this, but, yeah, if you'll use the passes I really wouldn't mind sending them your way. :)

That's okay. I knew you were busy and everything. :) I read more about the tours in a guidebook and it really sounds like fun. Can I email you my address? I figure if we don't use them for whatever reason, I'll send them back your way. But as I was getting pretty overwhelmed by the guidebook, I'm pretty sure it's the best way to see the city. & since my foot injury occurred, it's probably a good way to see the city without walking and irritating it further.

Millenium Park for sure!

*Pasta Palazzo http://www.pastapalazzo.com/menu.html
The Jalapeno Gnocchi is still the best, most non-heavy gnocchi I have ever had.

*Cafe Ba Ba Reeba http://www.cafebabareeba.com/
Tapas!

*Delilah's http://www.delilahschicago.com/
After either of those restaurants above, just walk north on Halstead up to Lincoln to Delilah's for drinks. Awesome chill bar!

*Hot Doug's http://www.hotdougs.com/
They do have veggie dogs here, and fries fried in duck fat!

*Quimby's http://www.quimbys.com/
Yes! Also, lots of record stores and little shops in this area.

*Ann Sather's http://www.annsather.com/
Not to turn your trip into a food tour of Chicago.... But this place has the best breakfast platter!

Also...

Architectural boat tour is awesome and fun
Museum of Contemporary Art
Art Institute of Chicago
Robie House
Hancock Center

Chicago is still my favorite vacation ever. Everytime I see something Chicago related, my pupils dialate ever so slightly! :D

Oh, this list is the best! Thank you!

My sister goes to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, so maybe she can get us in for some sort of discount or maybe not. We'll see! I did get to look around after hours once for her welcome to the school freshman deal. So great!

Quimby's is so awesome! I'm definitely going back and I want to walk around that area more too.

I haven't been to Chicago in about three years, but the last time I went, I went to see Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind and had an amazing time.

Why am I so behind on your entries?

I'm so glad you're going to Chicago again. I hope you have the best time ever!

& dude, I love fast food. It's so bad for you, but it tastes so good. I only wish there was a Sonic near us!

xo

I am going to Chicago next month. My friend is getting married. As much as I would like to take a trip to anywhere else I haven't been--I keep getting suckerd back to places I've already visited because there are so many awesome people that I meet and want to keep in contact with. So how was your trip?

It was excellent. I'm going to do some sort of post about it, but I haven't had any time yet.

Where would you want to go? Out of the country? You've done all of the exciting places it seems. What about Austin? Have you been there? Or Canada? Seattle is lovely. Santa Fe, NM -- it's all full of artists, methinks.
