[collecting]
After a year of picking change off the street, I have $5.35 and I do believe, I pulled out a dollar in dimes from it once when I needed to take the bus and forgot to write an IOU and add it back in, so really I had $6.35!! That's a lot of pennies and even dimes, nickels and quarters to find on the street all abandoned-like. Lucky me.

I started a new jar of found change on May 1, so I'm hoping for an even more profitable year.

P.S. Do you realize how hard it is to pick up tails up pennies on the street after you've been trained to only pick up the heads up ones for good luck? Very hard.

Aww, thanks so much. I actually found a blog documenting one's street change collecting (he found $100 in a year!) and since I already did that, I decided to just start adding it up. Once, I actively started looking, I found so much more change than just the odd penny here and there.

The name sounds familiar, but I'm not sure if I've heard her music or not. I haven't listened to new music in quite some time.

I hope you had sweet dreams. ♥

I could never bring myself to pick up money on the street, because my Russian mom taught me that picking money up is bad luck. And I have seen some twenties and tens on the ground!

Oh, interesting! Do you know why it's considered bad luck? & I could never pick up a ten or twenty and keep it. (I'd probably donate it or leave it as a tip or somesuch.) I've found some dollar bills and I've never spent them. I know that my mom dropped a fifty once in the store and just luckily found the woman pocketing it and she gave it back. Although, while I was doing this project, Dave & I were walking behind a family that found $5! If only we had been ahead of them. haha

i am the queen of picking up valuables up off the street. I find money a lot, but my best scores ever in philadelphia included an ikea gift card with an $80 balance, and $121 in cash in a dirty envelope. on two different occasions I watched other people step and walk right by, but something in my head tells me to pick it up. xo!

Oooh! That's amazing. I'm always picking things off the street, but I'm never that lucky. I find a lot of those plastic hotel keys in downtown Boston and once a plastic nametag too.

That is such a cool idea! I've never thought about keeping a separate "found change" collection but I just might now. I empty my pockets of change at the end of every day and put it into a jar and take it to Coinstar once a year to redeem them for paper money. But I wonder how much I could rack up just by keeping an eye out for loose change. I'm thinking probably not a lot since I don't do much walking, but who knows.
