{THE GOOD}
Dave and I have successfully moved into our new apartment in East Boston. It's strange to wake up in a room and hear children playing outside, and the sounds of an ice cream truck as it drives past your door. It's very exciting to be in a place that I could call home instead of just an apartment. It's only one bedroom but it's triple the size that we used to have in our tiny studio. We are slowly learning the area -- we found a few parks and the nicer part of the neighborhood yesterday. The places that don't involve loud music and taco stands, perhaps it's the older, more Italian area. There are all sorts of people here and they are all nice and aren't rushing around like in downtown Boston. So, it's a nice change of pace. I can't wait till I have more time to explore.
{THE BAD}
Last night, we were walking home and as we passed an alley way, I noticed a strange thing -- two bunnies, two white bunnies. These were not rabbits that were supposed to be there. We rushed home and grabbed a box, flashlight and some water. We were able to move one, but the other was in bad shape. As we examined the damage, blood on the sidewalk, a man came by saying his son had seen some rabbits here. He took our flashlight to check the rabbit's pupils and told us some horrible tales of some man in East Boston that used to eat rabbits. That made me pretty upset. We managed to get the rabbit on the lid of a cardboard box and get him home. We had to leave the more injured rabbit at the animal hospital, but we took the other, more alert one home with us. He seems to have something wrong with his leg, but he's also eating and very alert to the sounds around him. We have called a vet, but everything is closed on Labor Day. So hopefully we can have him looked at this week and we can determine if he'll be alright or if he's scared and was born with some sort of leg problem. He's not hoping about but he is moving. Our lease says NO PETS but everyone in the apartment has dogs. Dave wants to ask for permission as the lease says NO PETS without permission, we don't see how we could be turned down, when there is a giant boxer living just doors down from us. If not, I'm sure we'll be able to find him a good home.
There was no one at the hospital today that could tell us the condition of the other rabbit. We have to call back tomorrow. Again, unorganized and it aggravated me. I'll let everyone know how the bunnies are doing as soon as I know.
